#05 – A Question of Cranks

To relearn how to ride a bicycle and for hip rehabilitation, my friend Nico Valsesia lent me an exercise bike with strange “independent cranks.”

They are called “PURE FORCE” a simple solution that allows the pedals to move independently each on their own, and the legs and hips to activate independently.

Most useful for rehabilitative physiotherapy, but which for me a cyclist with a stiff back and feet also independent, with a baker’s style delivering bread, becomes a hellishly tiring tool.

I pedal like a chicken chased by the cook, but for hips that are still nice and rich in calcification, it’s a nice help. I try to regain a little bit of mobility and also get my butt used to the saddle again.

What a sweat ! I feel like a Don Quixote on his iron horse, alone in his little room.

But the loose crank really helps : without overdoing it but without sagging.

Thank you great Nico !
