#01 TAKEN BY THE HAIR (so to speak )

October 2020: I have a ‘brain hemorrhage: my ex-wife and children save my life. Then in the intensive care unit, a tignorous pneumonia that does not pass. Kidneys and heart hint at stopping. Caught by the hair (!?) of the Molinette doctors, I escape her.

Two months in an induced coma, hooked up to oxygen and everything you can. Awakening in December: I do not speak or swallow, the nerves in my legs and feet are somewhat compromised, and my hips have calcified.

In January I begin rehabilitation, recover my voice, start eating and swallowing again. The hips regain some mobility; they will then calmly be operated on. The nerves in my feet have lost their function: sensation is reduced, and the ‘inability to lift my drooping feet affect my stride. Leg movements are also limited, but continued physical therapy and my cane eventually help me walk.
